"It might be painful..but..with someone who's undergone a similar ordeal..maybe I can open up and heal. I lost my family. My sister, my parents. I gained a myriad of scars all over my body from the cracks, and while most of them have healed, some still show. I've been alone ever since defeating my sister in battle, and...my hope now is preventing the same tragedy that happened to us from happening to anyone else." She blushed as Hana mentioned her hope, and squeezed her hand tighter.
"Oh Mayu.." Hana tried to hold the tears back but found it too hard, "I've lost my family and even my sister as well. I can't believe how much you have suffered more that I can believe my own suffering. It's amazing how similar the roads we've traveled down are, it must be fate that brought us together today."
"Hana...don't cry for me.." She whispered..feeling emotional already. "I cried my heart out when I almost fell to despair. I got my revenge and closure upon destroying my evil sister. Now..I'm just resigned to what happened, and how it changed my life forever. I can't live a normal life...but maybe I can put the powers I was given to good use. I don't know if its fate...but I'm glad I met you."
"It's okay..to be emotional. It means you're still human." Mayu said with a smile. "So..about your hope. Have you thought about what your soulmate would be like?"
"Not really," she lied, "Most likely a mage who understands what i've been through and is willing to support me not just in fights but in whatever it is that I do and vice versa."
"Hmm.." she stares for a moment, and shrugs a bit. "Come now. You had to have some idea of what you were looking for. Since you thought about it and all. I haven't thought about it, so.."
"Really, it's no big deal. Just a kind cute strong mage that wears her, or his, past with pride and never gives up hope, no matter what kind of ordeals they face. Even if they had lost everyone important to them, I would become that important person to them. We would support each other and keep each other company, maybe even cuddle before bed."
Mayu looks away, blushing, as she thinks about Hana's words. The other mage seemed so sincere..and that warmed her heart. But why was she implying that she was talking about her?
"O-oh! Right...sorry." Mayu retracts the hand quickly, hiding it underneath the table in her lap. Using the other visible hand to drink her tea in silence..
After that, things got awkward fast with Hana struggling to think about things to talk, especially if it would move away from talk about suffering and soulmates.
Mayu nodded quickly, feeling awkward but managing to speak. "Um..yeah! It's great.." but inwardly, she's thinking, and the pit of her tummy is becoming warmer with a mixture of anxiety and exhilaration..
Hana notices something's off about Mayu and says, "I'm sorry I made you bring up old memories, Mayu. It was not my intention to cause you such distress. I merely wished to get to know you better."
