Overview:
Takatora is somewhat ruthless, and very much a realist. He finds no meaning in battle of any sort, and in the traditional understanding of it, he finds only an inevitable death. He will also say that those who question their enemy are not worthy of fighting; fighting is not about understanding; it is about taking care of something. It is about killing, about surviving. This is one of the world’s cold truths.
A man quite tired with life, Takatora honestly doesn’t care if he lives or if he dies. He is an elitist, a man who goes straight to the point. He’s brutally honest, showing little compassion, but it is there, at times. He knows that life is a serious endeavor, and that life requires focus and attention. He finds distractions (such as hobbies) to be worthless, believing that life only needs to be directed at one thing, instead of cluttered with useless things. A single goal is all that is truly needed. However, he’s flawed, and he can see it, because he does have hobbies of his own, and things that take him from a fully focused life.
He faces things head on, and believes that everyone should. He’d rather someone come straight for him, rather than flee. Yes, there is an aspect of cunning that is required, an amount of back-stabbing, but for the most part things should be blunt, they should be directly put out. He also believes, in extension, that if someone is willing to fight, they are willing to die, or to kill, and should never flee a fight, or feel bad about having to kill.
He knows that the world has a great deal of senseless malice, and that people need to realize that. If they don’t, their lives have been pointless. He believes that everyone should see the world for what it is, rather than see it through rose-tinted glasses of any sort. There is beauty in the world, but it’s still a cold place, a place with fear, loneliness and death.
He’s an intelligent man, acting as the head of the Japanese branch of Yggdrasil and overseeing operations. He is far more concerned with the world of Yggdrasil and the mission the company has embarked on rather than outside events, and is somewhat ignorant of various facets of outside life. His goal in life is to see the organization succeed, and he will give himself completely to Yggdrasil.
He has strong morals, honor and chivalry. He doesn’t discriminate, believing that everyone deserves to have a fair chance at the same start, and then must carry themselves on their own power, and if they realize they can’t, then they must make arrangements to fix that. He holds an odd kindness and sincerity, despite his blunt approach, especially towards women and children.
First and foremost, business is on his mind. He’ll do anything to help Yggdrasil, and often spends time dining with people involved or about to be involved with the company, making arrangements. He would rather deal with potential clients and others on his own, as he has a respectable disposition that helps with the cause, and his knowledge and talking points help to gain investors or allies or anything else. No matter whom they are, if they can help Yggdrasil, he’s prepared to pursue them and do what he can.
He doesn’t care anything for the war going on, and ignores it. It’s not his place to get involved, and he finds it to be pointless. He avoids as much as he can, but fights if he must, but will not kill, because they are simply misguided and wasting their time, and he believes that once the Yggdrasil Tree is found that they may need as many people as possible to help.
He has a soft spot in his heart for Seto, and treats him as if he were a younger brother. Seto may technically be Takatora’s butler, but he does nothing but selfless actions for the man. The two hold a mutual respect and admiration for each other and their respective pasts. The two have entered a sexual relationship, but Takatora considers himself straight, it’s just that he has feelings for this one particular man, seeing Seto as a person, not as a gender.
He’s hypocritical, as already stated, as he has his own hobbies. He finds himself enthralled with poetry on occasion, and will spend some time on that, usually in the company of a woman, as he likes to spend some time doing. He’ll often take a woman to dinner, write her poetry, and sleep with her. Even if it’s an ongoing affair, he’s not “dating”, he’s just using her as a release. He goes out of his way to try to explain that, such as by claiming he doesn’t bring flowers or anything like that.
Due to combat, Takatora has shown signs of PTSD, or at least possible signs. He keeps a careful watch on things for now, and isn’t sure what to make of it, or how dangerous he may become.

History
Takatora was raised by his mother, while his father was busy with other responsibilities, which would later extend to the founding of the Yggdrasil corporation. When his father was around, he had no time for Takatora nor his wife, and would even beat Takatora when he was a child, resulting in physical scars, as well as emotional ones.
Takatora went to an elite school in Tokyo and didn’t focus on anything other than an education, on gaining perspective. His father gave him help, talking to him about his work, and talking about Takatora’s future. Takatora wanted to reach that future, so he put his best efforts into his schooling, getting rid of everything else. He tried to put his family life behind him and become a solidary figure, not a man who had to live based on his parents.
When he was twelve, his mother was murdered before his eyes in a mugging incident. He came to realize how cold and harsh the world was, and practically raised himself while his father was working. He became colder, more ruthless, putting everything into getting ahead in school, because it would translate to life later on. When he did see his father, his father attempted to beat him, but Takatora was becoming unable to be beaten the way he used to be.
When he was eighteen he began to work more closely with his father, while also dealing with his university and putting the past aside. He began to learn his father’s duties, and how to perform them. He had a future for himself, and upon his completion of university, he began to work with his father, stepping in for him whenever he had to, getting a taste for leadership and power.
Eventually his father left to manage affairs elsewhere, leaving Takatora as the head of Yggdrasil’s Zawame headquarters (the headquarters for Japan) and being placed in charge of the recently discovered Helheim. Helheim was another world, a forest that was invading, and the assignment was to monitor it and learn what they could. During this process, their scientists created the Sengoku Drivers and modified the fruits of Helheim into Lockseeds. Takatora became the first user, becoming Kamen Rider Zangetsu. That was two years ago, and he spent all the time since that he had free becoming a stronger fighter for the sake of the future.
Just after obtaining his gear he met a young man who was forced to live on the streets, named Seto Sagara. The young man impressed him when he refused the charity Takatora was going to give him. He saw something in Seto, and made a deal with him. Seto became his “butler” (although Takatora really didn’t need one), and Seto would live with Takatora.
The two grew close, almost like brothers. He helped Seto to become a clean man, to become groomed and respectable. The two would often go out together to meetings or events, and Seto had little trouble fitting in. He adapted quickly enough.
The two also entered a sexual relationship as a result of how close they had grown.
When the war with the Rangers began, Takatora chose to stay out of it. He had important things to do rather than have petty fights with something he has no involvement with. His goal is to stop Helheim and find Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life.
