Daniel's Japanese odyssey was going fine until a dead body dropped from the sky and crashed right into the hood of his beloved cab.
He called the cops to arrest the one responsible for damaging his lively hood only for him to be arrested under suspicion of vehicular murder..
He was brought right to the nearest police station, all while complaining about how much his handcuffs chafed and that Japanese candy was nothing special.

Sae was sitting in the cafeteria of the station when she heard the commotion from someone being brought in. Shrugging, she thought nothing of it until one of the officers called on her to come and talk to the man. Sighing, she made her way over to the interrogation room. "Why am I being brought in here...?" she asked. From what Daniel could see, it looked like she didn't want to be in here right now...
"Katayanagi," a middle aged detective named Ken Aoyama nodded as she arrived, "How was your meal? Bring me anything?"
Aoyama was infamous around the precinct for his lazy behavior and tendency to outsource all his paper work and menial duties to rookies. That being said, he had a decent enough capture rate that he kept his job, that and he was good friends with the chief.
Daniel was brought straight to the interrogation room. He had enough cop shows to know what was going by now and was certain he could handle the situation well enough on his own. Hopefully.

"Well, if you had asked me before I went to lunch, I may have gotten you some food," she replied, somewhat seriously. For a moment, there was a cold look in her eyes before they went back to their normal bored expression. "So I take it you want me to interrogate him? What's the crime, anyway?"
"That's right," Aoyama nodded, "Possible homicide. Clear cut really, foreigner who doesn't quite know his way around runs right into our victim. Wrong place, wrong time."
He shrugged, "That or he ran over him deliberately. Either way, i'm sure you'll find out."
"Cab, body, that's about it," he shrugged, "As for witness, it was a busy day, tons of people. But of course you can't always rely on the general public to give a clear answer. Some say he did it on purpose, others say it was an accident."
"Hello to you," he said in perfect Japanese, "I would stand up and bow, but you guys kind of handcuffed me to a table."
He was smiling away the whole time, looking like he didn't quite understand the seriousness of his situation. Or maybe he does, but just remembered a really funny joke. Or maybe both.
"What happened?" he had to make sure to keep his Japanese straight. All he knows of the language he picked up from the month of binge watching anime he did in preparation for this trip, "Well.. you see I actually wanted to visit Australia so I could ride in a kangaroo pouch, but that fell through with the whole Ebola scare and my mom not wanting to me to get on any planes. I eventually managed to convince her to let me go on the trip, but at that point I learned from a guy on an internet chat room that kangaroos can be pretty punch happy when someone tries to ride in their pouch so I decided against that idea and just bought a ticket to Japan instead, specifically I wanted to go to Akhabara, which I've heard many people refer to as the geek mecca so it was only finding being a proud geek myself to visit at least once in my lifetime. And that's how I ended up here."
