An eerie silence had swept the city of Belfast. It was the night of nights, All Hallow's Eve. Turned into a corporate marketing scam over the pond, elsewhere it is both feared and respected. A night of witches, goblins, and ghouls. A night of true Horror..
This concerned Hugh very little as he sat in his favorite pub, drinking his favorite cup of whiskey, well his eighth favorite cup. It was a holiday after all, ah who is he kidding..? Every night is a night to celebrate.
He looked out into the darkness and raised a glass.
"Cheers."
His voice was drowned out by the blood curdling scream.
Alex was home, hunting. She was female tonight, because she had no real reason to believe she'd be swarmed with grunts. Not like changing was an issue. She walked past a bar, following the scream. It sounded like a scream she would have to respond to in some fashion. If it was mundane, she'd get a reward from Crimestoppers and that was all well and good, but if it was a Horror...
The scream ceased and silence once more took its place. The strong scent of blood filled the air as Alex approached. Inside the darkened alley, the faint outlines of a body could be seen.
It was a woman, barely 21. Her feet dangled two feet off the ground, her hands nailed into the very wall. The wall itself was painted crimson with her blood. Her mouth hanged open the scream of terror forever etched onto her face and her eyes..
"Fun." Alex muttered, pulling out her scythe. A quick combo later and the body was off the wall and on the ground. Now to find the Horror that had taken her eyes. It was moments like this, when she realized Horrors somewhat predominantly targeted women, that made her a bit miffed her male form was more suited for mass combat than single combat.
"I was really not in the mood for this tonight," a voice behind Alex growled, "But when you make kills like this - on my turf... Well, let's just say you fucked up rather royally."
Hugh growled, "Don't think you'll escape me so easily."
He turned his head one way before turning his head to another. His own breathing had become controlled, more precise. His whole body silent and ready to strike as he listened..
Alex rolled her eyes and leapt off onto a rooftop. How this insane blind bastard had gotten hold of a Soul Metal weapon was utterly beyond her. She just had to find the actual Horror responsible for this. She didn't have time to convince this racing lunatic he wasn't her enemy. She could change into her male form, but the trade offs in combat style were too much.
The figure turned its head but before Alex could see its full features, it wrapped itself in a shroud of shadows, only its glowing yellow eyes were visible.
The creature cried out but not out of pain. It cried out in challenge, in defiance. In a speed that was clearly not human, it dodged Alex's fireball effortlessly before slipping behind in the blink of an eye.
It breathed down her neck, putrid breath smelling of copper and nightmares.
"You will not vanquish me, lady Knight."
Several tentacles then attempted to slam Alex by her side into the brick wall.
