Naoko, meanwhile, had been up for hours, spending the whole time getting ready for the big night, and boy, was she in a panic. She was practically bouncing all over her room, trying on different outfits, applying makeup before realizing she was trying to hard and starting over, and all sorts of other things. Isuzu watched and sighed.
"I get the feeling that this isn't going to go as well as I thought..."

Having woken himself up with a strong cup of coffee, Ken noticed the time, and nearly spat out the last sip. "Gah, dammit! I have to pick up Naoko in less than an hour, and I do NOT wanna know what happens when someone's late for a date with royalty!" He yelled to himself, frantically looking for his best outfit, while trying to juggle brushing his teeth and applying deodorant and a mild cologne he'd become rather fond of, which smelled like fresh leather.
"Naoko, I think you put way too much evffort into this... but you're fine!" the retainer confirmed, giving a thumbs up. "I hope things go well for you, though. It wasn't easy to get that reservation for two."
"But it all worked out in the end! I guess now we wait..."

Finally finished his preparations, Ken was dressed in a rather nice outfit, though he wondered if maybe it was a bit too casual. However, he quickly pushed the thought aside, and called his neighbor to borrow his car, a much nicer vehicle aesthetically than the Rush Roader, which was horribly unsuited to pick up the Empress for a date. After getting approval and fetching the keys, Ken headed off to the palace in the bright red Camaro, pulling up to the gates moments later, barely maintaining a legal speed.

Naoko was outside the gates when Ken pulled up, and she was quite surprised by the sight in front of her. "Ken! Did you...?" she started to ask, blushing. "You went out of your way to impress me tonight, didn't you?"

"The clothes I can agree with. You could have totally come in the combat jeep and I wouldn't have cared though. A Rider's car is a much cooler ride than any sports car," she clarified with a smile. "Still, the sentiment is appreciated."

Ken shrugged. "Bull said he'd keep the Roader on scan mode the whole time, in case shit hits the fan." Cracking his neck a bit, he got out of the Camaro, walking around and opening the passenger-side door for Naoko.

"I remember reading once that most royalty were required to learn self-defense before they could ascend. I think the Brits even require military service, or something." Ken spouted off a bit of trivia, an old highschool habit that tended to surface when he was nervous, before gently closing the door and heading back to the driver's seat and shifting into drive, heading off towards Sukiyaki Jiro.

"Yeah, well when there was literately no one else in the main family left, and she wasn't exactly trained... They had to change the law about females unable to ascend to the throne because of me!" Naoko told him. "It wasn't exactly the perfect ascension, you know..."

Ken gulped a bit. "S-sorry if that brought up a sore spot... I was never really...very good at making small talk." He apologized, his eyes never leaving the road as he skillfully avoided any red stoplights and other motorists, making amazingly good time getting to the restaurant.

"Well, they say honesty is the best policy. Not that I'm any good at lying anyway." Ken chuckled, opening the door of the Camaro and walking around to open the door for Naoko. "After you, m'lady."
