"I'm leaving my school," she said. "Decided to go ahead and transfer to Amanogawa. That private school wasn't doing much for me anyway. Everyone there's snobbish and think they're all that because they're rich..."
"Oh...," she said. She wasn't sure what to make of that. She didn't mind the girl, but she tried too hard to be Katsu's friend, and now she was coming to AGHS?
Emi sighed. "I just... I can't stand that place anymore," she said. "Everyone's all high and mighty because they bought their way in, and I'm the weird one because I earned it. I'm done with it all, to be honest..." She then shook her head. "Anyway... I didn't really have anyone else to buy presents for except my folks... So I got this for you," she said, gesturing to the large box. "I thought that I'd at least make your Christmas a little happier."

She listened, not saying anything. She didn't know that feeling, since AGHS wasn't built like that, and she tried to minimize contact anyway, so she had no points of experience to draw from.
She looked at the box that Emi had said was for her, "It...it's big...," she said, "I...I don't know what it is, but it looks like too much for me...I don't deserve it." Especially not after having lied about where her home was...
"It's not really all that much to be honest," she said. "And you really do deserve it!" She then put the box in front of her. "I'd say open it tomorrow... but that's a bit too long of a wait.
"Well, I have to go out and shop more for a Christmas Eve dinner for one," she said with a sigh. "I was gonna bring it back with me if I hadn't seen you out here... But you think you'll be able to carry it back?"
"Yeah, I...I think I can." She looked at the box for a few moments in silence, then turned her head back to the other girl, "Why did you get me a present anyway?" she asked softly.
"Well... Can't say I'm entirely thrilled to eat alone before Christmas, and I'm probably not getting any gifts from my parents until after..." she told her. "But I've grown used to it. Being at a private school with busy parents does that to you."
"I didn't know that about you," she said. Of course, the two times they had met, Katsu hadn't really wanted to talk. She still didn't, but due to Emi's kind actions, she felt like she should.
