800 years ago lived a great King. The King was kind and benevolent and the people loved him for it. The kingdom enjoyed an era of peace and happiness, but alas this was not to last. A long neighboring nation set it sights on the kingdom's wealth and resources and set to conquer it. The war was long and bloody with no end in sight...
The King had several alchemists in his employ, men who had perfected the balance between magic and science. They created weapons of great power the Core Medals. Seven sets of nine were fashioned, each based off beasts the King saw on his journeys and fancied, others he saw in science journal such as the long dead giants of old. Each of the sets were given to the King's six best warriors, he kept the seventh for himself.
With their new found power, the King and his knights destroyed their enemies and brought peace to the land once again - or so it seemed. Those wielders of the Core Medals became corrupted by their power, it tapped into their inner desires until these desires where no longer under their control...
A great rebellion broke forth, brother against brother, all desiring the throne they once to swore to protect. The King himself had been corrupted by his own desire and wished to destroy his own knights to gain all of the Core Medals for himself. He had his alchemists create another mystical tool, the OOO Driver. This weapon allowed him to tap into the power of any of the Core Medals in whatever combination he pleased. He was hence forth known only as the Multi-King.
In a battle to end all battles, the knights reluctantly sided with one another to defeat their greatest opponent the Multi-King. It was during the battle, that the power of the Core Medals became too much and consumed the knights body and soul, allowing the Greeeds to be born. The Greeeds, no longer possessing their human memories, fled the castle, never to be seen there again.
The King found himself safe from such a fate thanks to the device fashioned by the genius alchemists. It was instead his jealous younger brother that was tempted by the seventh set into the act of murdering his older brother in cold blood. After he had lost his mind fully, he ripped the belt off his brother's waste and fled the castle, destroying all in his path. It is unknown what became of the belt.
The alchemists realizing their great folly made their mission to destroy which they had created. They created new medals and new tools to combat these Greeed. They trained their soldiers from birth to be without desire and strong of will. This was not always entirely effective, as desire is the root of all mankind, but they proved their use. These hunters were known as The Empty. Over the centuries, the Empty battled the Greeed, obtaining a few of the original Cores here and there, causing others to be lost in the process.
Now we come to the present day, where the ancient battle still persists with no clear winner insight. The Greeed no longer posses their full set of nine medals and search desperately to become whole once more. In order to survive, they possess unwilling human hosts, constantly changing their appearance in order to better escape The Empty, their hated enemy..
