Inner Stuff
Likes:
- Robots - Despite holding a grudge against Shocker, Joji recognizes that robots are not inherently evil, and are certainly vital to humanity if placed in the right hands.
- Hopper V3 - He's one of Joji's few friends.
- Motorcycles - He spends most of his time fixing up his motorcycle and fixing other people's motorcycles as a job.
Dislikes:
- Marshall Yoroi - Obviously, he hates anything remotely related to the monster that took his family's life.
- Shocker - It's really more a hate than a "dislike", if you ask him.
- Crowds - He prefers solace over the noise and bustle of public spaces.
Strengths:
- Brilliant Scientist - Joji is a robotics expert and holds genius-level intellect regarding engineering, robots, and computer science.
- Partially Cybernetic - Certain enhancements have been made to Joji's physiology in order to make him stronger and more durable than a regular human being, to a limited degree. He has a stronger immune system, stronger internal organ processes (as evidenced by never being affected by his smoking habit), and functions at the peak of the human condition without becoming superhuman. His right arm functions as a cyber arm that can connect to the Cassette Arms.
- Combat Pragmatist - Due to his disadvantage of being only partially cybernetic (in comparison to the three heroic Hopper units), The Avenger/Joji is not above resorting to "dirty tactics", if it means he can save a life or defeat his enemy.
Weaknesses:
- Mostly Human - As stated before, The Avenger is limited by his mortal human body. He cannot hope to ever match the strength, speed, endurance, and agility of the Kaizo Ningen through physical effort alone.
- Paranoid - He has a hard time trusting others due to his past experiences with Shocker.
- Wrathful - When angered enough, he has a hard time focusing on anything as his emotions consume him.
Goal(s):
- Destroy Shocker - In order to save others from suffering the same fate he did, he joins the Hopper units in their crusade against Shocker.
- Kill Marshall Yoroi - Furtheremore, should Marshall Yoroi ever come out of the shadows once more, The Avenger swears to kill him for taking the lives of his wife and his child.
Habits/ Quirks:
- Smoker - Joji enjoys a nice cigarette every now and then to calm his nerves down. As he is partially enhanced by Shocker, he does not suffer much of the deadly side effects caused by tobacco.
- Singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" - He likes humming the song to himself while either fixing a motorcycle, taking a walk alone, or approaching battle. It reminds him of who he's fighting for, his family, as he used to sing this all the time to his little son.
Relationships:
- Hopper V3/ Kamen Rider the Next - He has no idea where he is at the moment, but should he appear again, he can surely count on the Avenger to help him in the fight against Shocker.
- Marshall Yoroi - Formerly his rival during his time with Shocker, but is now a Cyborg Inhumanoid (colloquially a 'kaijin') and The Avenger's most hated enemy.
- The Kamen Riders -Joji/The Avenger counts himself among their ranks and is willing to lend a hand...provided they can earn his trust.
Overview:
Hero Stuff
Name:
Kamen Rider the Avenger / "Riderman" / Hopper-Mantis
Type Of Hero:
Kamen Rider
Henshin Device:
Avenger Drive
Henshin Sequence:
Joji puts on the Avenger Drive belt, and press the four lights on the buckle, which then flash one by one. He puts his forearms to his chest with a small gap in between, a light forming in between the gap. Joji then raises his hands, the light now above his head; the light becomes the Avenger helmet, which he immediately puts on. His rider suit then solidifies over his body, covering him in it. The eyes of his helmet then light up in an ominous red hue. Prepare for the Avenger.
Forms:
- Form Name: Kamen Rider the Avenger
Image/ Description: The Hopper-Mantis Suit
Motif: Mantis, Cyborg, Robotics
Color Scheme: Blue, Red, and Black
Transformation: See "Henshin Sequence"
Fighting Style: The Avenger does not enjoy the cybernetic strength that the other Hoppers have, as only his right arm is fully cybernetic. To that end, he has created various attachments that serve as weapons in his war against Shocker. Despite his human limitations, he is still trained in martial arts (specifically Shotokan Karate), which he picked up during his time as a member of Shocker.
Weapons: The Cassette Arms are the only benefit Joji ever had from working for Shocker. They are bionic attachments that serve various purposes for him, with most Arms serving as his weapons. - Rope Arm - The Avenger's default Arm. He can use the Rope Arm as a means of escape, a means of transportation, or as a weapon that can bind enemies. This Arm also has additional attachments that can augment its abilities, including the Hook Arm (a climbing mechanism), the Swing Arm (a mace attachment for combat), the Harpoon Arm (a giant blade projectile attachment), and the Net Arm (a restraint attachment)
- Power Arm - A mechanical blade attachment suited for melee combat, the Power Arm can also be used to hack through breakable objects like doors and walls. The utility does not end there, however, as the Power Arm is also used in The Avenger's finisher, Rider Slash.
- Drill Arm - The Drill Arm attachment can be used as either a piercing weapon or a means of boring holes on almost any surface. The only drawback is its need for an external power source, which comes in the form of a rechargable battery that runs out after a ten minutes.
- Machine Gun Arm - His means of engaging in ranged combat. The Machine Gun Arm comes in the form of a small gatling gun. The Machine Gun Arm can also be used to deploy an alternate finisher for The Avenger, the Rider Blast.
- Spray Arm - The Spray Arm can be used to eject smoke which can distract enemies and obscure his presence.
Abilities: Besides having an arsenal of arm attachments, The Avenger wears a modded copy of the Hopper suit, which provides protection from bullets, blunt force, and other forms of damage, to a certain degree.
Finisher(s):
Rider Slash - The Avenger jumps up and lands a downward slash attack on the opponent.
Other Equipment:
- The Riderman Machine - A restored Suzuki 250cc motorcycle painted in dark green with a red stripe that has the Suzuki logo within it. Joji Yuki never uses the motorbike outside of his exploits as Kamen Rider The Avenger.
History
George "Joji" Yuki was once a top scientist and official in Shocker, trumped only by the Kaijin who have earned their rank through 'field work'. He had a hand in creating the original two Hopper units, the Hopper v3 unit, as well as the common Hopper soldiers. His loyalty was earned through the promise of providing a perfect life for his family, as well as his old desire to be recognized as one of the greatest scientists in the world once Shocker completely takes over. His latest project was the Cybernetically-Augmented Superhuman Shocker-Enhanced Technologically-Treated Extension Arms (called "CASSETTE Arms"), prototypes of what would have become weapon and utility attachments for all Shocker soldiers.
His allegiance to Shocker ended, however, when his wife was almost a victim herself of a Shocker attack (Shocker did not know she would be in the area the Shocker troops would be). George, or "Joji" (a Japanization of his childhood nickname, "Georgie"), then pleaded to the agents of Shocker to allow him to resign from his involvement with the organization to live a new life with his family, in exchange for the completion of the CASSETTE Arms. However, Marshall Yoroi, another top scientist at Shocker who was jealous of Joji, convinced the leadership of Shocker that Joji would only expose their secrets if he was released, and proposed that they eliminate him instead. Shocker kidnapped his wife and kids, killed them, while Joji was to be "modified" and turned into a mindless Shocker soldier who would be built as a prototype user of the CASSETTE Arms, codenamed Hopper-Mantis. Only his right arm was changed at first, as a "test phase", while nanobots were sparingly used in order to ensure that his body was in peak physical condition on a level that was still human.
The operation would have gone smoothly, but his subordinates in the research division however, proved that they were more loyal to Professor Yuki than the organization by freeing and defending Joji as he escaped. He was able to run from Shocker with a few of his subordinates carrying the Cassette Arms in tow, but their flight would not last long. The kaijins were able to track them down, killing all of Joji's subordinates. In what should have been his final act of defiance, he used the Cassette Arms and the Hopper suit he was outfitted with to fight the kaijin to the death. Joji won, surprisingly, and swore from then on to fight Shocker, not only for the sake of the world, but also for the sake of his deceased family.
Joji would later meet the third Hopper unit that betrayed Shocker, Hopper V3 (or called by others as Kamen Rider The Next) and despite their initial mistrust and mutual dislike, Joji pledged to help him bring down Shocker, on the condition that Marshall Yoroi was left to him. Knowing he was still limited by his mortal form, unlike the Kamen Riders, he modified his Hopper suit to better protect him against damage, as well as crafting a custom helmet that resembled the Hopper helms worn by the first three Riders. Unlike the Hoppers whose belts were built to transport their suits instantaneously, Joji had to create his own method of transferring his helm and battle suit. To this end, he created the Avenger Drive, his own custom belt that teleported his helmet and suit to him, albeit it was slower than the Cyclone units.
