Overview:
Akira, deep down, has wanted to be a hero since he was a child. Of course, a lot of children have had this same desire, so he was no different. However, this never left him as he grew up. Sure, for some people, they go become cops, firefighters, things like that. But that wasn’t the type of hero Akira wanted to become. As Rangers, Riders, and others became more apparent to the public eye, that’s what he wanted, no matter the real and present danger it presented.
He understands danger, but chooses to ignore it, not out of a belief that he’s good enough to survive, or skilled enough, or anything like that. He chooses to ignore it so he can live out a fantasy. To him, his fantasy is far more important. If he can help people, well of course that’s even more important. But damn it, he wants to live out his heroic fantasies. And pick up women, of course. He’s a hero, and he’s attractive and full of himself. How can that go wrong?
Of course, even if he is so incredibly excited over his chance to be a Ranger and hero, he hides it behind a cool exterior. He knows enough from stories and TV that women love that. Besides, he thinks it’s a lot cooler to just be cool and aloof, rather than an overexcited manchild (not that he is, but it’s the word he goes to in this case). He holds up his cool exterior through everything he can, but it fails him a lot, primarily because in the heat of the moment he forgets about it. If he realizes it, he tries to play it off like this is just another day, and not the culmination of years of desire and fantasy.
Even with his overwhelming dreams finally having come true, he tries to be a sane man in this. He tries to think and see things rationally, and would rather think first before diving straight in. He quite likes living, and doesn’t want his career (nor life) to end that quickly. Granted, he’s no tactician, but he can stop, get an idea on what the enemy can do, then make his move. He’s not hotheaded, and really doesn’t like them, primarily because he doesn’t want to see them get hurt, or worse. He can’t handle pain or death in anyone, because he feels like he’s failed his job otherwise, even if they were another hero. He feels like he has to do something.
He tries to keep things quiet as to what he does for a living with people outside of this, as well as hobbies and anything else. He’d rather come off as an enigma than admit anything (his actual job as an office worker is still something he’d rather not admit to, primarily because it clashes with his cool exterior), even if it makes him friendless and alone. He does feel that loneliness, but does his best to get past it and find those who can understand him, like his teammates.
He’s a good man, who is willing to lay everything on the line to do what is right. He believes in justice, he believes in good and evil, and shades of gray. He’d rather be fighting monsters and only monsters rather than have to deal with anything else, especially evil heroes. However, when he has to (when nobody else is around to help), he’ll do what he can for normal crime and such, but he doesn’t like to get involved because it’s not so clear cut. He’s much better off with black and white; good and evil, rather than shades of gray.
He’s very human, and takes pain and grief like anyone else would. He’s not entirely emotionally stable either, and reacts pretty badly to some things. Truth be told, he likes it when he acts so excited about all of this, because it gives him something else to feel other than a faked cool aloofness and the emotional heartbreak he feels when things go bad.

History
Akira’s father was a politician in Fuuto, unmarried. He had a child with a mistress, but kept Akira’s existence as secretive as possible. Akira was raised by the woman, whom eventually married his father. Akira would later assume this was out of a political move to stay in power since there were allegations of him having a secret family (Akira’s father would state that they’d been married for years, and that he just kept them out of the public eye).
Akira’s schooling was hard. He was heavyset and his father closed down the plant that a lot of the other kids parents worked at. He was bullied and beaten up over that. Akira became anti-social and turned to the idea of heroes for solace. He eventually got into shape and stood up for himself because of the idea of these heroes, and he was happier for this new path in his life.
His father lost the next time he was up for re-election, but soon enough Akira moved out and went on his own way. He had money from his family, and he had a name to carry. He moved to Akibahara because of his hero worship (although that was a strong word) and began to work at a local office building.
One day he received a strange package including instructions and a figure of Z-Cune Aoi. He figured out soon enough what it did, and then was thrilled to be a hero. He took on a new exterior, because while he had acted normal everywhere, he now felt like he needed a cool and aloof personality to go with this new heroic side he was going to build up, because he felt like that was what heroes were like.
After some practice he got a hang of his powers, and then went and changed his wardrobe. Now he’s doing what he has to to fight and save people, while wondering if others are out there.
